94th Meeting of Town Official Language Implementation Committee Held Under the Chairmanship of Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar

Sri Vijaya Puram, April 28: The 94th meeting of the Town Official Language Implementation Committee, Sri Vijaya Puram was held today in the Conference Hall of Secretariat. The meeting was chaired by the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS.

Addressing the meeting, the Chief Secretary stated that as per Official language Rules 1976, Andaman and Nicobar Islands comes under Region ‘A’, and according to the Official Language Policy, it is mandatory for all the Central Government offices functioning in Region ‘A’ to dispose most of their official work in Hindi. He emphasized that the Ministry of Home Affairs is committed to implement the Official Language Policy in Central Government offices and being a Central Government Officer, it is our duty to carry out most of our official works in Hindi. He further stated that most of the officers and employees employed in various offices in Andaman and Nicobar Islands are well versed in Hindi and they are capable of disposing their official works in Hindi. He stated that disposing official works in Hindi has become much easier now as various software like Bharati and Bhashini has been developed by the Government of India which facilitate official work in Hindi. He urged all the Head of Offices to organize regular workshops and training for their staffs to sensitize them about use of these softwares and to encourage them for maximum use of Hindi in official work. At the end, he asked all the officers to take all necessary steps for the full implementation of the Official Language Policy in their office and strive to achieve the target set by the Government of India for the works to be done in the official language Hindi.

Earlier, Smt. Richa, Secretary (Official Language) gave a brief overview about the activities of TOLIC.  The point for discussion was presented by the Member Secretary, Shri Rajendra Indwar, Deputy Secretary (OL), A&N Administration through PowerPoint presentation.
