World Malaria Day Observed Across A&N Islands on April 25

Sri Vijaya Puram, April 28: World Malaria Day was observed across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands on April 25, 2026, in coordination with the Directorate of Health Services and the UT Health Mission. The theme for this year, “Driven to End Malaria: Now We Can. Now We Must,” underscored the urgent need for sustained efforts toward malaria elimination.

On the occasion, a radio talk titled “Hello Doctor” was broadcast on April 25, 2026. The session was delivered by Dr. B. Ajit Kumar, Deputy Director (Malaria), who highlighted the impact of malaria, its symptoms, and key prevention and control measures.

World Malaria Day activities were organized across all three districts through various health institutions. In addition, an awareness programme was conducted by the District Malaria Officer and Assistant Malaria Officer at IRBn, Port Mout, South Andaman, to educate personnel on malaria prevention and control.

The observance reinforced the commitment of the health authorities to intensify efforts toward malaria elimination and promote community participation in preventive practices.
