
Sri Vijaya Puram, April 30: A meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Ms. Purva Garg, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman in the presence of Shri Vikas Kumar, DANICS, Assistant Commissioner, Swaraj Dweep with participation from all PRI members.
During the meeting, a wide range of public issues affecting the local population were discussed in detail. PRI representatives highlighted several key concerns, including poor network connectivity and low internet speed which continue to affect communication and access to essential online services. The issue of water scarcity, particularly during the summer season was also raised with members seeking immediate and long-term solutions to ensure adequate supply of drinking water.
Suggestions were also put forth regarding the beautification of beaches through the development of eco-friendly huts and sitting structures, aimed at enhancing tourism while maintaining environmental sustainability. Further, it was brought to notice that both ambulance and veterinary ambulance services are currently non-functional and members urged for their early resumption to ensure timely medical and veterinary support.
The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman patiently heard all concerns and assured that the issues raised would be taken up with the concerned departments for prompt and effective resolution. Necessary directions were issued to officials to coordinate closely with PRI representatives and initiate appropriate action at the earliest.
