Illegal Hand-Sawn Timber Recovered in Kalighat Joint Operation

Diglipur, April 30: On 29/04/2026, acting on credible intelligence regarding the illegal transportation of hand-sawn timber in the 5 Plot area under Paschimsagar village, a police team from PS Kalighat, led by SI Shibendra Halder, SHO PS Kalighat, carried out a swift joint operation with staff of OP Kishorinagar and concerned Forest officials.

During the search of the area and nearby forest stretches, the team recovered 26 pieces of illegally hand-sawn timber of various sizes, including valuable Padauk and Thingam wood, with an estimated total volume of approximately 0.382 CBM. The timber had been concealed in dense forest bushes. Despite extensive search efforts, no offenders could be apprehended. The recovered timber was seized and subsequently taken over by Forest officials for further legal action.
