
Car Nicobar, May 4: The Education Department, Car Nicobar has initiated skill-based training programmes for school students during the Summer Vacation 2026. The skill-based training programmes have commenced today at GSSS Sawai, marking the beginning of this important initiative aimed at empowering students with vocational skills. The training programmes are being conducted across three Cluster Resource Centres (CRCs) in a phased manner:
GSSS Sawai: 04.05.2026 to 09.05.2026 with 175 students
GSSS Malacca: 11.05.2026 to 16.05.2026 with 240 students
GSSS Lapathy: 18.05.2026 to 23.05.2026 with 69 students
The courses include Plumbing, Electrician, Carpentry, Local Craft Making, Mat Making, Coir-related Activities, and Tailoring, with structured hands-on training sessions.
The Industries Department and ITI Car Nicobar are providing technical expertise and resource persons for the programme. Village Headmen have actively mobilized students, ensuring strong community participation. The initiative aims to promote vocational skills, self-reliance, and livelihood awareness among students.
