Lt. Governor Inaugurates Eknath Ranade Assembly Hall at ZPVKV Port Mout

Sri Vijaya Puram, May 5: The Vivekananda Kendra Zilla Parishad Vidyalaya (ZPVKV), Port Mout, has been strengthened with the addition of a new Assembly Hall, named in honour of the founder of Vivekananda Kendra, Eknath Ranade.
Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands & Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency inaugurated the “Eknath Ranade Assembly Hall” today by unveiling the plaque. The ceremony was held in the presence of Shri Prakash Adhikari, Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad South Andaman; Ms. Chanchal Yadav, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, A&N Administration; Ms. Purva Garg, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman District; along with senior officers of the A&N Administration, Zilla Parishad Members, and other PRI representatives.
Upon the arrival of the Hon’ble Lt. Governor at the school premises, students extended a warm floral welcome with cultural decorum up to the dais. The ceremonial lighting of the traditional lamp was also carried out by the dignitaries.
In his address, Adhyaksh, ZPSA highlighted the continuous support of the A&N Administration in promoting developmental activities in rural areas. He emphasized that significant improvements in school infrastructure will be undertaken under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK). He further informed that two additional ZPVK Vidyalayas are proposed at Calicut and Manglutan, for which land has already been identified and set apart by the District Administration. Plans are also underway to expand the school network to Great Nicobar, Hut Bay, Swaraj Dweep, and Shaheed Dweep.
Addressing the gathering, Commissioner-cum-Secretary appreciated the contributions and nationwide work of Vivekananda Kendra in the field of education and nation-building.
The programme featured vibrant cultural performances by students, which were highly appreciated by the dignitaries and guests. A documentary showcasing the developmental initiatives of the Zilla Parishad, South Andaman was also screened, highlighting the cooperation and support of the Administration in achieving these milestones. The documentary further highlighted the accomplishment of a Guinness World Record for the largest underwater National Flag and human formation at Swaraj Dweep by the A&N Administration under the leadership of the Hon’ble Lt. Governor along with several other notable developmental achievements in the Islands.
The Hon’ble Lt. Governor also interacted with PRI members during the event. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Principal, ZPVKV, Smt. Sabita Devi, who expressed her gratitude to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, dignitaries, and all attendees for their presence and support.
