
Sri Vijaya Puram, May 5: Demonstrating its continued commitment to combating drug trafficking, the Anti-Narcotics Police Station (ANPS), Andaman & Nicobar Police, has secured a conviction in an NDPS case registered earlier.
The case pertains to FIR No. 14/2025 dated 29.11.2025 U/s 20(b)(ii)(A) of the NDPS Act, 1985. Acting on credible intelligence, a raiding team of ANPS intercepted Prasenjit Mondal (22 years), S/o Shri Subodh Mondal, originally from Nafargunj, PS Jharkhali, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal, presently residing at Kaniga Hotel, Babu Line, Aberdeen, in front of the Exit Gate of VSI Airport, Lamba Line, Sri Vijaya Puram.
During the search of his luggage, 865 grams of illicit ganja concealed inside a carry bag was recovered and seized. The accused was apprehended on the spot after observing due legal formalities.
The investigation of the case was carried out by ASI Sanjay Yadav, Anti-Narcotics Police Station. His diligent investigation and timely submission of the charge sheet led to the successful prosecution of the case.
The accused was subsequently convicted on 29/04/2026 by the Hon’ble Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Sri Vijaya Puram, and the case was disposed of as per law.
This conviction reflects the effective investigation and professional commitment of the Anti-Narcotics Police Station, reinforcing the resolve of Andaman & Nicobar Police in ensuring swift legal action against offenders involved in drug trafficking.
