Sri Vijaya Puram, May 22: A two-day workshop on strengthening of institutional care under the Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection of Children) Act, 2015 was conducted on May 18 -19 in A&N Islands. The programme was organized by the Savitribai Phule National Institute of Women and Child Development under the Ministry of Women and Child Development in collaboration with the State Child Protection Society under the Directorate of Social Welfare, A&N Administration.
The workshop aimed at strengthening the implementation of the Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection of Children) Act, 2015 and enhancing the capacity of stakeholders engaged in child protection services across the Islands.
During the workshop, various important aspects relating to institutional care, child protection mechanisms, rehabilitation services, statutory procedures, and best practices under the Juvenile Justice Act were discussed in detail. The sessions also focused on improving coordination among stakeholders for ensuring better care, protection, rehabilitation, and reintegration of children in need of care and protection.
Resource persons conducted the technical sessions and interacted extensively with the participants, addressing practical challenges faced in the implementation of child protection services. Participants included members and officials from Child Welfare Committees (CWCs), District Child Protection Units (DCPUs), Child Care Institutions (CCIs), and other child protection functionaries working under Mission Vatsalya.
