
Sri Vijaya Puram, May 27: The Andaman and Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC) solemnly observed the 62nd Death Anniversary of Bharat Ratna and the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Ji, with deep respect and reverence on 27th May, 2026 at Gandhi Bhavan, Port Blair.
On the occasion, ANTCC President Shri. Rangalal Halder and Chairman, Campaign Committee, ANTCC, Shri. TSG Bhasker, ceremonially garlanded the portrait of Nehru Ji as a mark of homage and gratitude for his invaluable contribution towards nation-building, democracy, secularism, and the development of modern India.
Thereafter, floral tributes were offered by Senior Congress leaders, ANTCC Spokespersons, TCC Member, Block Congress Representatives, Mahila Congress representatives, Congress Seva Dal representatives, City Congress representatives, INTUC representatives, OBC Dept representatives, Minority Dept representatives, Unorganised Workers & Employees Congress representatives, RGPRS representatives, Fisherman Congress representatives, SVPMC Chairperson & Councilors, Party workers, and members of the Congress Party, who gathered to pay their heartfelt respects to the great visionary leader.
Speaking on the occasion, the leaders recalled the immense contribution of Pandit Nehru Ji in laying the foundation of democratic institutions, scientific temper, educational advancement, and national unity. They highlighted his unwavering commitment towards social justice, peace, and inclusive development, which continues to inspire generations across the country.
The gathering also observed a moment of silence in memory of the departed soul and reaffirmed their commitment to uphold the ideals and values cherished by Pandit Nehru Ji. The programme concluded with remembrance of his lifelong dedication and service to the nation.
