NSCBPTI Conducts One Week Training Programme on Tourism Policing in Collaboration with Rashtriya Raksha University

Sri Vijaya Puram, May 29: The Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Police Training Institute (NSCBPTI), Sri Vijaya Puram, in collaboration with Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), Gandhinagar, Gujarat organized One Week Training Programme on “Tourism Policing” from 25th May to 29th May 2026 for police personnel of Andaman & Nicobar Police dealing with tourism-related duties and public interaction.

It is pertinent to mention here that Andaman & Nicobar Police had executed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rashtriya Raksha University, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, an Institution of National Importance functioning under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, on 03rd March 2025. The MoU was signed for a period of five years, extendable for a further duration as mutually agreed upon by both parties, with the objective of academic collaboration and accreditation of various professional training courses conducted by NSCBPTI. The collaboration aims to strengthen the professional capacity-building framework of Andaman & Nicobar Police through specialized training, research and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

The training programme was designed with the objective of enhancing the professional competencies, behavioural skills and operational preparedness of police personnel in effectively handling tourism-related issues, ensuring safety and security of tourists and promoting a positive image of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands as a safe, secure and tourist-friendly destination. Considering the growing significance of tourism in the Islands, the programme focused on sensitizing police personnel towards modern policing approaches required in tourism-centric areas.

The programme covered a wide range of important and contemporary topics including the concept and significance of tourism policing, soft skills and cultural sensitivity, code of conduct and best practices, crowd psychology at tourist destinations, media and social media management, emergency response and crisis management, disaster management and humanitarian assistance, cyber awareness and digital crimes targeting tourists, risk mapping of tourism hubs, use of Artificial Intelligence and modern technology for surveillance and tourist safety, community engagement, public order management and challenges in protecting indigenous tribes and eco-sensitive areas.

During the five-day programme, eminent faculty members and subject experts from Rashtriya Raksha University and other distinguished resource persons delivered insightful and interactive sessions on emerging challenges, practical issues and best practices in tourism policing. Sessions were conducted in offline mode by Mr. Vishal Katariya, Research Officer and Dr. Ruchika Singla, Assistant Professor and Director (In-charge), School of Internal Security and SMART Policing, Rashtriya Raksha University. Other distinguished speakers including Mr. Sagar Ghodasara, Dr. Mohammad Akmal Shah, Assistant Director, RRU, Shri Sourav Dey and several prominent faculty members of RRU conducted sessions through online mode.

The valedictory session of the programme was held on 29th May 2026 at NSCBPTI, Sri Vijaya Puram. Participants appreciated the comprehensive and practical nature of the training programme and expressed that the knowledge gained during the sessions would greatly assist them in discharging their duties more effectively and professionally in tourism-sensitive areas of the Islands. A total of 56 police personnel of Andaman & Nicobar Police attended the training programme.
