Sri Vijaya Puram, May 29: In a major initiative aimed at promoting tourism, cultural activities, entertainment, sports and ease of doing business in the Islands, the Andaman & Nicobar Administration has issued the “Executive Order for Streamlining Licensing and Permissions for Live Events in Andaman & Nicobar Islands, 2026”.
The Executive Order has been framed in alignment with the “Model Executive Order for Streamlining Licensing and Permissions for Live Events in India, 2026” issued by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India. The initiative seeks to create a transparent, time-bound and investor-friendly framework for organising concerts, festivals, exhibitions, sporting events, conferences, cultural programmes and other live events in the Islands.
The new framework introduces a Single Window Clearance System (SWCS) through which organisers can apply online for all necessary permissions, including Police, Traffic, Fire Safety, Electrical Safety, Municipal and Excise clearances. The system is designed to reduce procedural delays, simplify inter-departmental coordination and improve accountability in the approval process.
One of the key highlights of the Order is the introduction of fixed timelines for grant of permissions. Applications submitted through the SWCS shall ordinarily be processed within ten days, while urgent applications under the Tatkal category will be processed within two days, subject to fulfilment of prescribed requirements. The Order also provides for real-time tracking of applications, digital payments, online communication of deficiencies and transparent monitoring of approvals.
The Administration has further provided for pre-approved venues, empanelled ticketing partners, standardised licence conditions and coordinated inspections to facilitate hassle-free conduct of events while ensuring public safety, traffic management, fire safety, sanitation and electrical safety compliance.
The initiative is expected to significantly boost event tourism and encourage national and international event organisers to consider the Andaman & Nicobar Islands as a preferred destination for cultural, entertainment and sporting activities. The streamlined system will also create opportunities for local artists, entrepreneurs, tourism stakeholders, hospitality sectors and allied service providers, thereby contributing to employment generation and economic growth in the Islands.
The Andaman & Nicobar Administration remains committed to promoting a vibrant cultural ecosystem while ensuring public safety, transparency and efficient governance through digital and citizen-friendly systems.
