
Sri Vijaya Puram, May 31: As part of the ongoing Chalchitra Andaman and Nicobar Film Festival being organized by Directorate of Information, Publicity & Tourism (IP &T) in collaboration with the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), two acclaimed films viz. Village Rockstars and Manjummel Boys were screened at the Anthropological Survey of India Auditorium today, drawing an enthusiastic response from cinema lovers. The screenings witnessed audience comprising film enthusiasts, students, and members of the local community, who appreciated the opportunity to experience quality cinema on the big screen.
Rockstar, known for its powerful narrative, soulful music, and compelling performances, captivated viewers with its emotional depth and portrayal of a musician’s turbulent journey. The audience was particularly moved by the film’s evocative storytelling and memorable soundtrack.
The second film, Manjummel Boys, a survival thriller inspired by true events, kept viewers engrossed throughout its runtime. The gripping narrative, realistic performances, and strong themes of friendship and resilience received widespread appreciation from the audience.
Following the screenings, several viewers expressed their satisfaction and lauded the festival organisers for bringing nationally acclaimed films to the islands. The Chalchitra Festival continues to provide a platform for showcasing diverse cinematic works, offering audiences an opportunity to explore films that have earned critical acclaim and popular appreciation across the country. The festival which began on May 22 will continue till June 21, 2026, with screenings scheduled on every Friday and Saturday.
