Sri Vijaya Puram, June 2: The World Environment Day, marked annually 5th June was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972. Over the past five decades, the Day has grown to be one of the largest global platforms for environmental outreach. Tens of millions of people participate online and through in-person activities, events and actions around the world. This year the World Environment Day campaign focuses on “Now For Climate” i.e., focusing on climate change and immediate action and the host country is Azerbaijan. The World Environment Day has always been a day a special important to India.
The day has been celebrated as dedication of national efforts for sustainable development and mainstreaming environmental concern in the national developmental agenda.
