CPI(M) Conducts Procession & Meeting to Protest Hike in Petrol, Diesel & LPG

Sri Vijaya Puram, June 7: As part of CPI (M)’s agitation on various burning issues, CPI (M) Port Blair City Area Committee organized a Mass Procession and meeting at Port Blair today (6.6.2036) evening to protest the recent hike in the LPG, Diesel and petrol prices in the country.  Despite incessant rain, leaders and party workers participated in the procession which began from the Municipal Counil Headquarter and culminated at the same place after making a round of the important points at Aberdeen Bazar area of Port Blair town.   

Inaugurating the programme in front of the Municipal Council office, D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A & N State Organising Committee ccriticised theModi-government for the sharp increase in the commercial LPG cylinder and frequent hike in the petrol and diesel prices during the last one month.   He said that people, especially those belonging to lower strata of the soeicty are reeling under the unprecedented price rise while the BJP government at the centre has failed to control the price rise.

Addressing the participants, on conclusion of the procession, Dr Gouranga Majhi, CPI (M) State Secretariat Member said that due to the wrong policies of the central government, workers and farmers are facing hardship to pull on the days.  P. Sathyapal, Secretary, Port Blair City Area Committee while addressing the gathering blamed the Modi government for pursuing various anti-people policies in the country which led to the sufferings of the people. 

The procession was led by D. Ayyappan, State Secretary and D. Laxman Rao and Dr Gouranga Majhi, State Secretariat Members and P. Sathyapal, Secretary, Port Blair City Area Committee and SP Kalairajan and Anand, SOC Members.
