Mayabunder, June 7: In a remarkable display of prompt medical care and teamwork, doctors at Dr. RP District Hospital, Mayabunder successfully performed a life-saving emergency surgery on a 22-year-old woman from Webi who was admitted with severe abdominal pain and vomiting of one day’s duration.
Upon arrival, the patient was immediately evaluated. Ultrasonography (USG) revealed the presence of a dermoid cyst. Considering the emergency nature of the case, an urgent laparotomy was performed. During surgery, the medical team identified a twisted ovarian cyst measuring approximately 12 × 8 cm. The cyst was successfully removed and sent for histopathological examination.
The surgery was skillfully carried out by Dr. Meenakshi, Gynecologist, and Dr. Arnold Ashu, Specialist Anesthetist, with valuable assistance from OT staff Ms. Suhasini and Shri Tamay.
