
Sri Vijaya Puram, June 10: As part of its ongoing outreach and awareness campaign on the A & N Fire and Emergency Services Regulation, 2026, the A & N Fire & Emergency Services today conducted stakeholder interaction programmes for representatives of Government/private hospitals & educational institutions and Fire Service personnel on hybrid mode at the Conference Hall of the Fire Service Training Centre, Sri Vijapuram.
The programmes were chaired by Shri Uma Shankar, Superintendent of Police (Fire), A & N Islands, along with Shri Ankesh Yadav, DANIPS, Dy. Superintendent of Police (Fire), and Inspector Fire Brigades to apprise stakeholders about the key provisions of the A & N Fire and Emergency Services Regulation, 2026 and the importance of compliance with fire safety norms.
Addressing the participants, the Superintendent of Police (Fire) informed that the Regulation has been promulgated by the President of India and highlighted the provisions relating to Fire Audits under Sections 26 and 27. During the interactive sessions, stakeholders were briefed on key provisions of the Regulation, including annual self-declaration, third-party Fire Audits, maintenance of fire safety infrastructure, emergency preparedness measures, and the responsibilities of owners, occupiers, and management authorities in ensuring compliance with fire safety standards.
41 Representatives from Government/ private hospitals & Schools raised queries regarding fire safety requirements in healthcare facilities, evacuation procedures, audit mechanisms, and timelines for compliance. The queries and suggestions raised by the participants were comprehensively addressed by the Superintendent of Police (Fire).
The Superintendent of Police (Fire) informed that Fire Audits would be undertaken to identify deficiencies in existing fire safety measures and to create awareness regarding statutory compliance requirements. He urged all stakeholders to proactively assess their fire safety preparedness, rectify shortcomings, and ensure compliance before the Rules under the Regulation come into force. Participants were requested to extend full cooperation during inspections, audits, and awareness activities conducted by the department.
The participants appreciated the proactive initiative of the Fire & Emergency Services Department in engaging with stakeholders and providing clarity on the provisions of the Regulation ahead of its implementation.
