On the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, observed annually on 26th June, I join the people of the A & N Islands in observing this day and pledge our continued efforts towards a drug-free society.
This year’s theme, “Break the Cycle. #StopOrganizedCrime,” is a powerful reminder that drug abuse not only destroys lives and families but also fuels organized crime, threatens public safety and hinders the progress of society. Combating this menace requires collective efforts through awareness, prevention, timely intervention, treatment and rehabilitation.
I urge every citizen, especially our youth, to actively support the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan by taking the NMBA Pledge and becoming Nasha Mukt Mitras. Together, let us break the cycle of addiction and crime, strengthen our communities and build a healthier, safer and drug-free A & N Islands. Together, we can realize the vision of a drug-free society and ensure a secure and prosperous future for generations to come.
