MESSAGE

National Doctors’ Day is observed across the country on 1st July every year to commemorate the birth and death anniversary of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, Bharat Ratna awardee, eminent physician and former Chief Minister of West Bengal. The day is an occasion to honour the invaluable contributions of the medical fraternity and recognize their dedication, compassion and selfless service to society.

In the A&N Islands, doctors continue to serve with remarkable commitment across a geographically dispersed and challenging territory, ensuring that quality healthcare reaches even the most remote communities.

The doctors serving at Health Centres across the Islands deserve special appreciation for their dedication and resilience. I also commend all doctors in the public healthcare system for their tireless efforts to strengthen healthcare and improve access to specialized medical care across the Islands.

On this special day, I extend my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to all doctors serving in the A & N Islands. May they continue to uphold the highest ideals of the medical profession and serve humanity with compassion, commitment and excellence.

Admiral D.K. Joshi
