SKSSF Andaman Launches ‘SHAJAR 2026’ to Create Green Minds for a Sustainable Tomorrow

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 6: Building on the outstanding success of last year’s “Khairath” Van Mahotsav Campaign, through which more than 1,000 trees were planted across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, SKSSF Andaman State has officially launched “SHAJAR 2026”, a month-long environmental campaign under the theme “Creating Green Minds for a Sustainable Tomorrow.”

The campaign was inaugurated at RUAC, Wimberlygunj, in the presence of SKSSF leaders, volunteers and community members.

While continuing its commitment to tree plantation and environmental conservation, SHAJAR 2026 places special emphasis on nurturing environmental awareness among children and youth. Recognising that today’s students are the future guardians of nature, the campaign seeks to instil values of environmental responsibility from an early age.

As part of the month-long initiative, SKSSF will organise tree plantation drives, sapling distribution programmes, environmental awareness sessions and a range of educational activities. Schools will be encouraged to adopt the “One Class – One Tree” initiative, enabling every class to nurture and protect a tree within the school campus. Students will also be motivated to participate in the “One Student – One Plant” campaign by planting and caring for a sapling at their homes.

To inspire creativity and active participation, SHAJAR 2026 will feature a series of inter-school competitions, including Eco Fashion Show, Drawing, Poem Recitation, Speech, Debate and Environmental Skit, all promoting the message of sustainable living and environmental stewardship.

The campaign will conclude on 31 July 2026 with a grand closing ceremony and prize distribution, honouring schools and students who demonstrate exceptional commitment towards protecting the environment.

Speaking on the occasion, SKSSF leaders stated that environmental conservation is not limited to planting trees alone but involves cultivating responsible minds that value, protect and preserve nature. Through SHAJAR 2026, the organisation aims to inspire a new generation that will continue the mission of building a greener, healthier and more sustainable future for the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
