DHS Organises State Level Programme on STOP Diarrhoea Campaign 2026

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 15: A State level programme on STOP Diarrhoea campaign 2026 was organized by UT Health Mission in association with Directorate of Health Services today at Community Hall Brookshabad with the ultimate aim of ‘zero deaths due to childhood diarrhoea among under 05 children’.

Inaugurating the event as the chief guest, Dr.  H.M Siddaraju, Director of Health Services emphasized on the urgent need to adopt preventive measures, ensure safe drinking water, and encourage handwashing habits. Shri. Arubadi, Councillor, Ward No. 21 as guest of honour appreciated the efforts of the Department for control of diarrhoeal cases in this UT.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Shiny Varghese, Deputy Director (FW)/ Joint Secretary (RCH-II) encouraged field functionaries to continue on ORS-Zinc administration, breastfeeding promotion, safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene education in under 5 children.

A skit alongwith demonstration of handwashing practices (6 steps), preparation of ORS and importance of Zinc Tablet by ASHA workers, CHO and School Students respectively.  In this programme, ORS packets, and zinc tablets were distributed during the event to raise awareness on diarrhoea management. More than 200 participants attended and were benefitted by this programme. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Sadhana, PHN, DH Garacharma and a pledge by all stakeholders to work collaboratively to eliminate preventable deaths caused by diarrhoea.
