Sri Vijaya Puram, July 21: The Block Project Office (BPO), South Andaman, under Samagra Shiksha, organized an Assessment Camp for Children with Special Needs (CwSN) at GSSS Girls, Sri Vijaya Puram. A total of 114 CwSN students from Government and Private schools across South Andaman participated in the camp. Assessments were carried out by the ALIMCO team in collaboration with Dr. Tamanna Sengupta, Chief Medical Officer (NFSG), and the medical team from GB Pant Hospital.
Inaugurating the programme Archana Singh, Principal, GSSS Girls, encouraged parents to actively support their children throughout the assessment process. The camp was coordinated by Ms. Lydiya Michael (PSRT) and Shri Jai Singh (Special Educator) under the guidance of the Block Project Office, South Andaman. The programme was successfully conducted with the dedicated support of Shri Santosh Mondal (Special Educator), Ms. Mousmi Biswas (Special Educator), Ms. Priyanka Kumari (Sign Language Interpreter), the staff of GSSS Girls, the ALIMCO assessment team, the medical team from GB Pant Hospital, and the parents.
The Assessment Camp marks another significant initiative of Samagra Shiksha towards strengthening inclusive education in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. By ensuring timely assessment and access to appropriate assistive devices, the programme aims to empower Children with Special Needs, enabling them to participate more effectively in school and lead independent, confident, and dignified lives.
