Diglipur, July 21: International chess day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at PM SHRI Subashgram, Diglipur, N&M Andaman yesterday. As part of the celebrations, a Chess Corner was inaugurated by Smt. Kakoli Dey, Principal, PM SHRI GSSS Subashgram. The chess corner has been established to provide students with dedicated space to learn, practice and enjoy the game during games period.
To mark the occasion, an inter-house chess competition was also organized witnessing enthusiastic participation from students including primary classes. Inaugurating the tournament as the chief guest, Dr. C Pushpavalli, Deputy Education Officer (DEO) Diglipur highlighted the educational and life skills developed through chess and encouraged them to actively participate in the game.
In evening a vibrant community chess event (Street Chess) was organized at Diglipur Bazar to mark International Chess Day 2026. Shri. Santosh Prakash, Assistant Commissioner Diglipur as the chief guest inaugurated the event by making the ceremonial move against Shri P R Singaram, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Subashgram who graced the occasion as the guest of honour.
