
Sri Vijaya Puram, July 21: The Andaman Association of Tour Operators (AATO), in association with the Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India (ADTOI) and the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI), successfully organised a two-day Skill Development Training Programme for Chauffeurs and Tour Coordinators on 20th and 21st July 2026 at Lemon Tree Hotel, Sri Vijayapuram.
The programme was organised with the objective of enhancing the knowledge, professionalism and service standards of frontline tourism personnel, who play a vital role in delivering quality experiences to visitors. The initiative witnessed an overwhelming response, with 115 participants taking part in the training.
The programme was inaugurated by Shri Vinayak Chamadia, IAS, Director of Tourism, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, who appreciated the initiative taken by AATO, ADTOI and ATOAI in organising such an important capacity-building programme. He emphasised that regular training and skill development are essential to improve service quality and further strengthen the tourism industry in the islands.
The two-day programme featured sessions by eminent professionals and subject experts covering key aspects of the tourism industry, including destination knowledge, customer service, road safety, hospitality, crisis management, first aid and emergency response, digital skills, professional etiquette, and environmental and marine conservation. The interactive sessions were well received by the participants and encouraged active discussions and practical learning.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. M. Vinod, President, AATO, reaffirmed the association’s commitment to continuously upgrading the skills of tourism professionals and stated that AATO would organise more such training programmes in the future.
Mr. Saikat Biswas, General Secretary, AATO, thanked the Director of Tourism, all resource persons, ADTOI, ATOAI, Lemon Tree Hotel and the participants for their wholehearted support and contribution in making the programme a grand success. He noted that the excellent response to the programme reflects the industry’s commitment towards professionalism, safety and delivering exceptional hospitality experiences to every visitor.
The programme concluded with the distribution of participation certificates to all participants, marking another significant step towards strengthening the tourism workforce of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands through continuous skill development.
