South Andaman District Administration takes Prompt and Decisive Action Against Fresh Encroachments at Mathura Village 

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 29: The District Administration, South Andaman, in its continued commitment to safeguard government land and uphold the rule of law, has taken prompt and decisive action against fresh encroachments at Mathura Village under Ferrargunj Tehsil.

During a recent inspection conducted by the Revenue authorities, with the assistance of line departments, Police authorities and the active support of the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), fresh encroachments were detected on Government land comprising approximately 40,000 Square meter of grazing land and 10,000 square meter of land earmarked as a playground at Mathura Village. The encroachments had been carried out by erecting railings and planting saplings in an unauthorized manner.

Acting swiftly, the Revenue authorities conducted an eviction drive and successfully removed the unauthorized encroachments, restoring the Government land to its original status. The eviction was carried out in a peaceful and lawful manner reflecting the District Administration’s firm resolve to protect public land from illegal occupation and to ensure that Government land is preserved for its intended public purposes.

The District Administration has once again underscored its zero-tolerance policy towards encroachment on government land. It has issued a stern warning to all individuals and entities indulging in or abetting such illegal activities that encroachment of government land will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Strict penal action shall be initiated against violators strictly in accordance with the provisions of law, and any attempt to circumvent legal procedures will invite firm consequences.
