
Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 4: Andaman Nicobar Territorial Unorganised Workers and Employees Congress Celebrates Foundation Day-2026 with “Shram Ratna Awards” (Best Unorganised worker & Employee award) in Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Gandhi Bhawan, Sri Vijaya Puram, 1st August 2026
The Andaman Nicobar Territorial Unorganised Workers and Employees Congress (UWEC), a frontal Departmental organization of the Indian National Congress, celebrated its Foundation Day with great enthusiasm and participation from workers across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands
The highlight of the celebration was the presentation of the prestigious “Shram Ratna Awards”.
Shri Ranglal Haldar, President, ANPCC, attended as the Chief Guest, while Shri John Robert, President, South Andaman District Congress Committee, was the Guest of Honour. On the occasion, 25 outstanding workers from various unorganised sectors were honoured with the prestigious Shram Ratna Awards for their contribution to society and the workforce.
The Foundation Day-2026 celebration was successfully organized under the leadership of Shri S. Tejeswara Rao, State Chairman, Andaman Nicobar Territorial Unorganised Workers and Employees Congress, along with the active support and coordination of the State Committee, District Committee, office bearers, members, and volunteers. Their collective efforts ensured the grand success of the programme and reflected the growing strength and unity of the organization across the islands.

Speaking on the occasion, the office bearers reiterated their resolve to work for better working conditions, social security coverage, healthcare benefits, skill development, employment opportunities, and overall welfare of workers belonging to the unorganised sector.
The Shri S.
