
Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 7: The Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India (ADTOI), Andaman Chapter, celebrated the 30th Glorious Years of ADTOI with a special Founders’ Day programme held at the ZSI Auditorium, Sri Vijaya Puram, on 7 August 2026.
The programme was organised under the theme Swadeshi Paryatan, Sashakt Bharat, highlighting the importance of promoting domestic tourism, encouraging Indians to explore their own country and strengthening local tourism economies.
The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries, marking the beginning of the celebrations.
Shri M. Vinod, Chapter Chairman, ADTOI – Andaman Chapter, delivered the welcome address and spoke about the journey of ADTOI over the past three decades and the significant role of domestic tourism in the growth of the Indian tourism sector.
The programme featured a series of informative and engaging sessions. Dr. Saeeda Banu, Professor, JNRM, addressed the gathering on Domestic Tourism, highlighting the opportunities and importance of tourism in the development of the country.
Shri Saikat Biswas, General Secretary, AATO, spoke on Adventure Sports, focusing on the potential of adventure tourism in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Dr. Pronob Sarkar, Historian & Anthropologist, delivered an insightful presentation on the Historical Importance of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, highlighting the rich history and heritage of the islands.
The Keynote Address was delivered by Dr. Siva Perumal, Officer-in-Charge, Zoological Survey of India (ZSI), Andaman & Nicobar Islands, who spoke about the significance of the islands and the need for responsible and sustainable tourism.
An Interactive Session with Questions & Answers was also conducted, providing students and participants an opportunity to interact with the speakers and gain valuable knowledge about tourism, heritage, adventure activities and the natural wealth of the islands.
The programme was attended by a large number of students from JNRM College and members of ADTOI – Andaman Chapter. The participation of students added special significance to the event, providing young minds with an opportunity to understand the immense potential of tourism and its role in nation-building.
The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Shri Mohammed Sajid, Treasurer, ADTOI – Andaman Chapter.
The programme was efficiently conducted by Mrs. Nisha, who coordinated the proceedings throughout the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri M. Vinod expressed his sincere gratitude to Dr. Siva Perumal, Officer-in-Charge, ZSI, for providing the auditorium and extending valuable support for successfully organising the programme. He also conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to the Principal and the entire team of JNRM College for their cooperation and support in making the programme a success.
The programme concluded with the National Anthem, followed by a group photograph.
The celebration reaffirmed ADTOI Andaman Chapter’s commitment towards promoting domestic tourism, responsible tourism and the rich cultural, historical, natural and adventure tourism potential of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, in line with the vision of SwadeshiParyatan, Sashakt Bharat.
