GP Mithakhari and Volleygirls Emerge at Champions of the Tournament

Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 7: The DC SP Cup Inter-Village Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Tournament 2026, organized under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, concluded successfully today at Corbyn’s Cove Beach, Sri Vijaya Puram, with an exciting Grand Finale.
The tournament was organized by the Deputy Commissioner (South Andaman) and the Superintendent of Police (South Andaman) in collaboration with the Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA), Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, Directorate of Education and MY Bharat. The championship witnessed enthusiastic participation from villages and Panchayats across South Andaman District, including Sri Vijaya Puram Tehsil, Ferrargunj Tehsil, Shaheed Dweep, Swaraj Dweep and Little Andaman.
The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Ms. Purva Garg, IAS, and Superintendent of Police, South Andaman, Ms. Shweta K. Sugathan, IPS, graced the Grand Finale as the chief guests. They witnessed the final matches and appreciated the enthusiasm, discipline and sportsmanship displayed by all the participating teams.
In the Men’s Final, Gram Panchayat Mithakhari emerged as the Champions, defeating Gram Panchayat Guptapara, with set scores of 25–20 and 25–19. Gram Panchayat Guptapara secured the Runners-up position.
In the Women’s Final, Volleygirls emerged as the Champions, defeating Storm Breakers with set scores of 15–07 and 15–03. Storm Breakers secured the Runners-up position.
The chief guests presented the Championship Trophies and Medals to the Winners and Runners-up teams in both Men’s and Women’s categories. Cash awards of Rs. 12,000/- were presented to the Winners and Rs. 6,000/- to the Runners-up teams in each category.
A key highlight of the tournament was the Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Oath Ceremony, wherein participating players took the pledge before every match. The initiative effectively combined the spirit of sports with the message of a healthy, disciplined and drug-free society.
The successful conduct of the tournament has provided a meaningful platform for youth and communities to come together through sports while spreading awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse. The event reinforced the values of discipline, teamwork, fitness, sportsmanship and community participation, while strengthening the collective commitment towards the vision of “Nasha Se Mukti.”
The District Administration expressed its appreciation to all participating teams, officials, Panchayat representatives, volunteers, supporting departments and the public for their valuable contribution towards the successful conduct of the DC SP Cup Inter-Village Volleyball Tournament 2026.
