Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 7: The Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri C.P Radhakrishnan will be arriving here tomorrow (Aug. 8) on a two day’s visit to the A&N Islands. On arrival, the Hon’ble Vice President will visit the National Memorial Cellular Jail in the evening and lay wreath at the Martyr’s Column there. He will offer respects at ‘Swatantra Jyot’ and visit ‘Veer Savarkar Cell’ and pay floral tributes. The Hon’ble Vice President of India, will also visit Central Tower, Workshed, Gallows and Museum-Exhibition Gallery in the Cellular Jail premises. Thereafter, the Hon’ble Vice President will witness Light & Sound Show at National Memorial Cellular Jail.
As per the itinerary, on August 9, the Hon’ble Vice-President will participate in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyaan’ by hoisting the National Flag at Flag Point in Sri Vijaya Puram. Thereafter, the Hon’ble Vice President will attend a State Function – ‘Tiranga Concert on Vande Mataram’ at DBRAIT auditorium. The Hon’ble Vice President will also witness the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Exhibition’ put at the Auditorium premises. Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lt Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency will also attend the function.
In the afternoon, the Hon’ble Vice President will visit Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose (NSCB) Island where he will be briefed about the NSCB Island and its proposed future development plans.
On completion of visit, the Hon’ble Vice President is scheduled to return to New Delhi in the evening of August 9.
