
Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 10: As per the call given by the central trade unions and Samyukta Kisan Morcha, workers and farmers all over the country today (10.08.2026) organized Jail Bharo Andolan against various anti-working class and anti-farmer policies of the central government. In Andaman and Nicobar Islands, a Secretariat March was organized by CITU at Port Blair today afternoon. Hundreds of workers participated in the Secretariat March which began from Delanipur junction and culminated at the entrance gate of the Secretariat after making a round of the important points of the town.
Addressing the participants in the Secretariat March at the concluding meeting, B. Chandrachoodan, General Secretary lambasted the Narendra Modi government for pursuing anti-working-class policies in the country during the last 12 years. He demanded to implement the High Court Division Bench order on regularization of daily rated mazdoors working under the A & N Administration.
D. Ayyappan, Vice President and SP Kalairajan, Secretary, CITU State Committee also addressed the gathering. R. Surendran Pillai, President and P. Sathyapal, Anand Rajan, M. Yugandar, CITU Secretaries led the Secretariat March. Regularisation of daily rated mazdoors in the islands, privatisation of public sector undertakings, abolition of MGNREGA, denial of MSP for farmers, etc. were also highlighted during the Secretariat March.
At Diglipur, CITU and All India Kisan Sabha jointly organized a mass demonstration in front of the Assistant Commissioner’s office which was led by Sunil Bepari and Barun Biswas, President and Secretary respective of CITU Diglipur Zonal Committee and Dilip Karmakar, Joint Secretary, AIKS.
