
Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 10: National De-worming Day was observed in all the schools including Private Schools and Anganwadi centers across the Union Territory today. To mark the event, a State Level program was organized by the Directorate of Health Services in association with UT Health Mission and in close coordination with Directorate of Social Welfare and Directorate of Education in the Conference Hall of Govt. Girls Senior Secondary School, SVP with the ultimate aim to cover children between the age of 1 to 19 years through schools and Anganwadi centers as a fixed day approach.
Inaugurating the programme as chief guest, Dr. H.M Siddaraju, Director of Health Services emphasized on collaborative effort to be taken between Education, ICDS and Health Department for successful implementation of De-Worming programme in A&N Islands.
Speaking as guest of honour, Smti. Archana Singh, Principal, GGSS School, spoke on the importance of National De-worming Day. Children were administered tablet Albendazole by the guests to mark the start of the programme. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. Shiny Varghese, Joint Secretary (RCH-II), DHS.
