Meticulous Police Investigation Leads to Conviction in Murder Case

Rangat, Aug 17: North & Middle Andaman District Police secured justice in FIR No. 67/2006 dated 12.04.2006, registered under Section 302 IPC at PS Rangat, with the conviction and sentencing of the accused.

On 14.08.2026, the Hon’ble Court of the Additional Sessions Judge, South Andaman District, Port Blair, pronounced the sentence, awarding Rigorous Imprisonment for Life along with a fine of ₹50,000/-.

The case relates to a violent incident at Parnasala, Rangat, on 12.04.2006, wherein the accused, following a trivial altercation with his friend, attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon, resulting in his death.

Based on the complaint, a case was registered at PS Rangat and investigation was promptly initiated by Inspr. Devadas, the then SHO, PS Rangat. The investigation was subsequently carried forward by Inspr. Anil Kr. Singh and Inspr. M.A. Naushad, the then SHOs of PS Rangat.

The dedicated and meticulous efforts of the investigating officers resulted in the collection and effective presentation of crucial evidence before the Hon’ble Court, contributing significantly to the successful conviction and sentencing of the accused.
