The programme was held as part of the 150th Birth Anniversary celebrations of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel with the objective of creating meaningful engagement between the Police and the Youth and channelizing the positive energy, creativity and potential of young citizens towards constructive nation building. A total of 51 students from Tagore Government College of Education, Andaman Law College, and Andaman College (ANCOL) participated. Representatives from MY Bharat, subject experts, and senior officers of A&N Police also took part.
The aim was to foster direct engagement between the police and youth, and to channelize the energy, creativity, and potential of young citizens towards constructive nation building.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Uma Shankar, DANIPS, Principal, NSCBPTI said a modern police training institute must go beyond professional training and serve as a platform for discipline, integrity, constitutional values, and public service. He noted that effective policing today rests on trust, communication, and community partnership, not just enforcement.
During the sessions, students were sensitized on responsible citizenship, constitutional values, national unity, cyber safety, drug abuse prevention, road safety, and social responsibility.
A key segment focused on digital challenges including cybercrime, online fraud, misinformation, fake news, and deepfakes. The youth were urged to adopt the principle: “Think before you click, verify before you trust, and think before you share.” They were also encouraged to avoid drugs and anti-social activities, and to pursue sports, skill development, and healthy lifestyles. Emphasis was laid on strengthening the Police–Youth partnership under community policing.
Further, Students were encouraged to act as responsible stakeholders by reporting cyber fraud, drug-related activities, and suspicious behaviour through proper channels.
The interactive session allowed students to engage with police officers and experts, clarify doubts, and understand the role of citizens in building a safe, responsible, and progressive society.
The programme concluded with an appeal that youth are not just the future of India, but an integral part of its present, and their choices will shape a safer, stronger, and developed nation.
The event was coordinated by Shri Sanjay Kumar, Inspector (Admn.), assisted by SI Deepak Mukherjee and SI Abdul Rahman.
