Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 1: A special awareness session on “Nation Building and Responsible Citizenship” was conducted for around 250 first-year engineering and diploma students at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology (DBRAIT), by Lt Col Nitten Mehta and Lt Col Rahul Raj, Army Component, Headquarters Andaman & Nicobar Command on 31st Aug 26.
The session focused on instilling a strong sense of discipline, courage, perseverance, motivation, responsibility and commitment towards the nation among the young students. The officers emphasised that nation building is not confined to any particular profession but is a collective responsibility in which every citizen has a meaningful role to play.
Students were encouraged to adopt a “Don’t just consume, but create” mindset and to channel their knowledge and skills towards developing solutions to Indian and local problems. The officers highlighted the importance of identifying challenges around them and contributing through innovation, creativity and responsible action.
The session also covered Fundamental Rights and Fundamental Duties, helping students understand the balance between enjoying constitutional rights and fulfilling responsibilities as citizens. Inspiring examples of Paralympic achievers were shared to demonstrate how determination, resilience and an unwavering attitude can help overcome seemingly formidable challenges.
The interactive session motivated students to recognise their potential as future professionals and contributors to society. The officers urged them to imbibe the values discussed and translate them into their academic pursuits, personal conduct and future professional lives, thereby contributing meaningfully to the progress and development of the nation. The program was coordinated by Shri. Rajnish Kumar, Sr. Lecturer (Mechanical).
