Diglipur, Sept. 8: The 6th Andaman & Nicobar State Conference of All India Kisan Sabha was held at Diglipur, North Andaman on 8th September, 2026. 53 Delegates and observers from different parts of Andaman & Nicobar Islands attended the Conference.
Inaugurating the Conference, Dr Vijoo Krishnan, General Secretary of All India Kisan Sabha, Delhi said that after Modi government came to power, there has been a major shift in the foreign policy of the country. He said that India has completely surrendered shamelessly before the US imperialism as the Modi government did not protest against the aggression on the Palastine and Iran by US and Israel. He said that about two lakh people have been killed in these wars. Referring to the Free Trade Agreememt signed by India with many countries, Dr Vijoo Krishnan said that various agriculture products including arecanut are going to be imported to India, which will adversely affect the Indian farmers. He further said that the Modi government is trying to implement the three black laws which were withdrawn by the government following massive protest and agitation by farmers in the country.
He said that workers, farmers and agriculture workers are going to organize massive agitation in the country during the coming months against the anti-working class and anti-farmer policies of the government. Referring to the problems being faced by the farmers in A & N Islands, Dr Vijoo Krishnan said that the Modi government has completely failed to resolve the issues of non-availability of fertilisers, seeds, pesticides in the islands. He called upon the farmers of Andaman & Nicobar Islands to strengthen the All India Kisan Sabha in order to fight for the cause of farmers.
Addressing the Delegate Session, D. Ayyappan, Vice President, CITU State Committee briefly explained the problems faced by the people of North and Middle Andaman District and the failure of Modi government to resolve the demands of the people. He said that farmers in the islands have been put to exploitation by private firms as the government failed to supply fertilisers, seeds, etc to the farmers.
A Presidium comprising Dr Gouranga Maji and Projit Kumar Sarkar conducted the Conference. SR Mridha, Secretary, Kisan Sabha State Committee presented the report on the functioning of the Kisan Sabha in the islands for the last four years. KP Paul, Treasurer presented the Accounts. Resolutions on various issues relating to the farmers and general issues were also passed in the Conference.
The Conference began with the hoisting of the Kisan Sabha flag by President Dr Gournga Majhi and delegates and leaders paying floral tributes to the martyrs at the specially erected Martys Memorial Column at the venue of the Conference. The Conference elected new office bearers and State Committee. On conclusion of the Delegate Session, a public meeting was held at the Diglipur bazaar which was also addressed by Dr Vijoo Krishnan, D. Ayyappan, PK Sarkar and P. Sathyapal. Dr Gouranga Majhi presided.
