Young Chess Talents from A&N Islands Make their Presence Felt at the U-13 National Chess Championship

Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 9: Young chess talents from Andaman & Nicobar Islands made their presence felt at the Under-13 National Chess Championship 2026, with JS Virat delivering an impressive performance by securing 6 points in the championship. Virat displayed strong determination and competitive spirit throughout the tournament, gaining valuable experience while competing against some of the country’s promising young chess players.

Another promising player from the Islands, R. Harshad, also participated in the championship and secured 2 points. His participation provided valuable exposure to high-level national competition and will contribute to his development as a young chess player.

The championship was held from September 3 to 9, 2026, at Pondicherry. The event was organised by the Pondicherry Chess Association and conducted under the aegis of the All India Chess Federation (AICF).

The Andaman & Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA) congratulates both players for representing the Islands at the national level and wishes them continued success in their chess journey.

The participation of young players in national championships is an important step towards strengthening the chess ecosystem in Andaman & Nicobar Islands and encouraging more youngsters to take up the sport.
