Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 10: On 10th September, 2026, as a part of its continued commitment towards building a Drug-Free Society under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, South Andaman District Police conducted a drug awareness programme at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Aberdeen Bazar, which has a strength of approximately 2,000 students.
During the program, Inspector Vijay Kumar, SHO PS Aberdeen along with SI Dinesh Kr. Jaiswal, HCs Mohd. Rafique, Mamta Paul and PC Roja addressed the students and teachers in the morning prayer. The interactive session focused on the harmful effects of drug abuse on health, family and society as well as the legal consequences under the NDPS Act. The officers also sensitised the students about the long-term consequences of drug addiction and encouraged them to adopt a healthy lifestyle and stay away from drugs. Students actively participated in the session and their queries were addressed by the police team.
The programme concluded with administering the Nasha Mukt Bharat pledge to the students and teachers, who resolved to stay away from drugs and contribute towards creating a drug-free society. The initiative was well received and reaffirmed the commitment of South Andaman District Police towards youth awareness, community participation and the vision of a Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
