Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 14: The 6th Edition of the Annual Calendar Cycling event – Tour of Andaman (ToA) is set to be held in two batches from 19th September to 2nd October 2026, bringing together around 63 cyclists from different parts of India, along with local cycling enthusiasts, for a unique cycling expedition across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
The Tour of Andaman, initiated in 2019, is organized by Team Parikrama in association with the Hoteliers Association of A & N Islands as the Hospitality Partner and the Transport Corporation of India (TCI) as the Logistics Partner. With the support of – the Tourism Department, A & N Administration. The event has been developed with the objective of promoting the Andaman & Nicobar Islands as a distinctive cycling and adventure tourism destination.
Covering more than 315 kilometres, the seven-day cycling journey will take participants through the diverse landscapes of South, Middle and North Andaman, combining cycling, ferry crossings, forest trails, coastal roads, island experiences and interaction with local communities. The expedition will commence with a flagoff from the historic Cellular Jail, Sri Vijaya Puram, on 20th September 2026 for Batch 1 and 27th September 2026 for Batch 2.
The route for the 6th Edition will cover Mount Manipur (Mount Harriet), North Bay, Jirkatang, Baratang, Rangat, Mayabunder, Diglipur and Ross & Smith Islands, offering participants an opportunity to experience the natural beauty and diverse landscapes of the archipelago.
Unlike a conventional competitive cycling race, the Tour of Andaman is designed as a journey of discovery, endurance and connection with nature. Participants will experience the islands by air, land and sea, cycling along tropical forests, coastal highways and countryside roads, while discovering the unique landscapes and communities of the archipelago.
The expedition has been carefully planned to provide participants with a varied island experience. The journey includes the panoramic surroundings of Mount Manipur, the forest and coastal landscapes around Baratang and Rangat, the mangrove ecosystem at Dhaninalla, and the scenic stretches towards Mayabunder and Diglipur. The Mayabunder–Diglipur stage, described as the “Queen Stage”, will be one of the most challenging sections of the tour, taking cyclists through forests, coconut groves and island settlements before reaching Kalipur Beach.
A special highlight of the expedition will be the visit to the Ross & Smith Islands, where participants will experience the famous natural sandbar connecting the twin islands, followed by an overnight ferry journey back to Sri Vijaya Puram. The Tour of Andaman goes beyond cycling to promote nature-based, experiential and responsible tourism in the islands. By bringing together cyclists from different parts of India and local riders, the event provides an opportunity to showcase the region’s scenic landscapes, island communities and tourism potential through a unique sporting and adventure experience.
With its combination of cycling, nature, adventure and island exploration, the 6th Edition of the Tour of Andaman is expected to further strengthen the identity of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands as an emerging destination for cycling and adventure tourism.
