Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 15: The Department of Home Science, Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya, in association with NSS Unit-I, JNRM, is observing Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2026 from September 9 to 19, 2026, with a series of activities aimed at creating awareness about nutrition and healthy living among students and the rural population.
As part of the celebrations, students and faculty members visited Anganwadi Centre, Ward No. 5, where the programme was inaugurated by Smt. Usha Devi, CDPO, South Andaman, along with Smt. Nidhi Shekhawat, Assistant Professor & Head, Department of Home Science, faculty members, Mukhya Sevika and AWC workers. Nutritious recipes prepared by parents and AWC workers were displayed, while students presented Nukkad Nataks on ‘Motapa – Sehat Ka Dushman’ and ‘Malnutrition.’ A lecture on Anaemia was delivered by Ms. Reena Singh, Resource Person, Department of Home Science, followed by an interactive session with parents of AWC beneficiaries.
A Slogan Writing Competition was organized on September 9, followed by a Walkathon on September 11 in which students, faculty members and NSS volunteers participated. Meanwhile, a Gram Sabha will be organized at Mithakhari Gram Panchayat on September 17 to discuss nutritional issues with parents and school-going children. The programme will conclude with the distribution of certificates on September 19, 2026.
