Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 22: As part of the Silver Jubilee Celebrations under the aegis of Headquarters Andaman & Nicobar Command (HQ ANC), INHS Dhanvantari and Station Health Organisation, SVP, conducted a Multi-Speciality Medical Camp at Baratang as an outreach initiative to extend specialist healthcare services to the island community.
The camp was conducted by Surg Cdr Prasant Panda, CSO (Med) and inaugurated by Chief of Staff, HQ ANC. The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation, with nearly 500 islanders benefiting from consultations by specialists in Medicine, Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Surgery, Orthopaedics, Radiology and Dentistry.
Several health conditions were identified during the camp for which treatment advice, counselling and referrals for further management were provided by the respective specialists. Surgical and antenatal cases were also evaluated and counselled appropriately.
The camp was organised with the support of PHC Baratang and the local Administration. As part of the preventive health initiative, the Community Medicine Specialist and Officer-in-Charge, Station Health Organisation, conducted a health awareness session for the local community at the Health & Wellness Centre, Flat Bay.
A separate interactive session for students of SS School, Baratang, focused on adolescent health, personal hygiene and healthy lifestyle practices. They were also motivated for a career in the Armed Forces.
