Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 22: The Secretary, Sri Vijay Puram Municipal Council (SVPMC) conducted a comprehensive joint site inspection on dated 11th September, 2026, across Wards No. 06, 07, and 09. Following the inspection, strict directions were issued for the immediate execution of an intensive sanitation and shoreline cleaning drive alongside the seashore and the Burning Ghat area located at Prem Nagar, Ward No. 07.
The inspection revealed that a significant number of abandoned, damaged, and redundant boats and vessels left on the shoreline are causing a major public nuisance, contributing heavily to waste accumulation, and severely disrupting the natural beauty of the coastal area. In the interest of public health, environmental sanitation, and coastal beautification, the SVPMC will actively clear all such redundant vessels, unauthorized temporary structures, and debris from the seashore.
To ensure the smooth operation of heavy machinery, including an excavator deployed for removing accumulated silt and waste, the Council has issued the following mandatory directives to stakeholders:
•All boat owners are instructed to immediately clear away redundant parts of boats, old hulls, and vessel scrap currently abandoned on the shore.
•All operational fishing boat owners and commercial boat operators must shift and anchor their vessels at least 20 metres away from the shoreline before the cleaning drive commences.
•Residents of adjoining areas must safeguard their personal belongings and dismantle any unauthorized sheds or temporary structures obstructing the work site.
The cleaning operations will be scheduled in alignment with sea tidal movements to ensure safety and maximum operational efficiency. The general public, fishermen, and commercial operators have been explicitly notified that the Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council (SVPMC) shall not be held responsible for any collateral damage caused to boats, vessels, structures, or any other private property remaining in the zone during the course of this enforcement and cleaning operation.
