44th IND-INDO CORPAT: Bilateral Exercise Reinforces the Shared Commitment of India and Indonesia

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 21: The 44th edition of the India-Indonesia Coordinated Patrol (IND-INDO CORPAT) commenced on 13 Jul at Sri Vijaya Puram, marking another significant step in the ongoing maritime cooperation between the Indian Navy and the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL). This bilateral exercise reinforces the shared commitment of both nations to ensure peace, security, and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.

As part of the opening phase of the coordinated patrol, the Indonesian Naval Ship KRI Lambung Mangkurat arrived at Sri Vijaya Puram, accompanied by the operational deployment of CN235 military aircraft. The arrival of these participating units signaled the beginning of joint operations and coordinated surveillance along the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) between the two nations.

Since its inception in 2002, IND-INDO CORPAT has evolved into a vital initiative for enhancing maritime domain awareness, strengthening interoperability, and deterring non-traditional maritime threats such as smuggling, piracy, and illegal fishing.

The commencement ceremony included official calls, professional exchanges, and operational briefings between the Naval personnel of both countries. These engagements aim to foster deeper understanding and collaboration between the two maritime forces.

During the 44th CORPAT both navies undertook coordinated patrols, sharing operational information, and conducting joint surveillance missions. The CORPAT underlines the readiness and resolve of both navies to uphold freedom of navigation and a rules-based maritime order. The event culminated at Belawan with two IN Ships and one Aircraft participating in closing ceremony.

The India-Indonesia Coordinated Patrol stands as a testament to the strong naval ties and mutual respect between the two maritime neighbours.
