South Andaman District Police Secures Successful Conviction of 20 Years in Rape of 04 Years Old Child

Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 22: The meticulous and professional investigation carried out by the South Andaman District Police has led to the successful conviction in a POCSO case registered against Kishov Ojha at Police Station Ograbraj in the year 2022. The investigation was diligently carried out by SI Arti Roy, under the close supervision of SI Devanand Pathak, the then SHO, PS Ograbraj. The tireless efforts, coupled with the professional commitment of the investigating officers, laid a strong foundation for the prosecution. The case was further strengthened by the compelling arguments presented by Ms. Tasneem, Special Public Prosecutor (POCSO), Sri Vijaya Puram, before the Hon’ble Special Judge (POCSO). This synergy between dedicated police work and effective prosecution ensured that justice was served leading to the conviction of the accused.

On 21st August, 2025, the Hon’ble Special Judge (POCSO), Sri Vijaya Puram passed the conviction judgment sentencing the accused Kishov Ojha to Rigorous Imprisonment for twenty years and imposing a fine of Rs 10,000/. In addition, the Hon’ble Special Judge also directed that a sum of Rs 1,00,000/- be paid to the victim as compensation by the State Government. This verdict stands as a powerful reaffirmation of the scientific, professional, and impartial approach of our judicial system, as well as the unwavering dedication of legal professionals, investigators, and all those who tirelessly pursue justice.
