
Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 24: As per the call given by the All India Federation of Anganwadi Workers & Helpers, the Anganwadi Workers & Helpers all over the country have observed “Black Day” on 21st August, 2025 demanding to resolve various pending demands. In Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the Andaman & Nicobar Anganwadi Workers & Helpers Union (CITU) has observed 21st August, 2025 as “Black Day”. Anganwadi Workers & Helpers throughout the island territory wore black badges while attending their duties. A delegation from the Union comprising Geeta Devi, President and R. Anbukkarsi, General Secretary submitted a Memorandum addressed to the Union Minister for Women & Child Development, Government of India, to the Secretary (Social Welfare), A & N Administration. The Union leaders had a detailed discussion on each of the issues with the Secretary (Social Welfare).
The issues raised through the protest by the All India Federation were (1) Stop mandatory implementation of Face Recognition System (FRS) authentication immediately (2) Before implementation of digitization of the Anganwadi reporting system, provide computer/ laptop/tab in all Anganwadi Centres; pending this, provide good quality mobile phones with 4G/5G connection (3) Free Wi-Fi connection should be provided in the Anganwadi Centres (4) Provide quality supplementary nutrition to all beneficiaries irrespective of Aadhar verification or face recognition as per the SC Order (5) Immediately hold tripartite meeting with all Anganwadi Federations to discuss the issues related to the POSHAN Tracker App including manipulation of data.
