Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 26: Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Hon’ble Home Minister and the A&N Administration for providing relief to the unemployed youths of these Islands by continuing the upper age limit of 33 years for male and 38 years for female candidates for recruitment to Group-C posts in all departments under the A&N Administration.
This decision comes after the persistent demands raised by Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, Hon’ble MP before the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Hon’ble Home Minister, and Hon’ble Lt. Governor of UT Administration on 26.07.2025, followed by his personal meeting with the Hon’ble Prime Minister on 23.08.2025.
It may be recalled that in order to secure maximum employment opportunities for the unemployed youths of these Islands and to bring parity with the Union Territory of Ladakh where the upper age limit is 40 years, Shri Ray had strongly opposed the proposal of fixing the age limit at 27 years in the draft Recruitment Rules for various Group-C posts. Following his intervention, the UT Administration has reconsidered the matter and decided to continue the existing upper age limits of 33 years for males and 38 years for females, as per Notification No. 41/06/F.No.16-6/93-PW dated 07.03.2006. With this decision, a large number of unemployed youths will now have the opportunity to participate in competitive examinations for various Group-C posts in the forthcoming recruitment drives.
Shri Bishnu Pada Ray once again extended his sincere thanks to the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Hon’ble Home Minister, and the A&N Administration for this significant decision in the interest of the Island youths.
