
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 14: The 18-member Island U-17 Boys School Football Team, comprising of 16 players, is all set to participate in the 64th Subroto Cup Football Tournament – 2025 at New Delhi. After a rigorous three-month residential coaching camp, the team has honed their skills through intense practice matches against top-notch teams from Sri Vijaya Puram, Wimberlygunj, and the Andaman Nicobar Command team at Netaji Stadium and Football Grounds at JNRM and Brichgunj. The team demonstrated good skills and techniques, winning most of the practice matches.
In a special gesture, Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, Chief Secretary, A & N Administration, personally interacted with the team today, extending his heartfelt encouragement and best wishes. The Chief Secretary expressed immense pride in their accomplishments and motivated the team with inspiring words, urging them to believe in themselves, stay united, and give their absolute best on the field. “Your relentless hard work and commitment will undoubtedly bring success,” the Chief Secretary remarked. The team was visibly energized and deeply inspired by the Chief Secretary’s gracious words of motivation.
Further, to ignite their passion and strengthen their determination, a motivational interaction session was also organized with esteemed dignitaries, including Shri Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal, IPS, Director General of Police at Police Headquarters, Shri Vikram Singh, Director (Education/Sports), prominent tribal leaders and former Subroto players. Their valuable words of guidance and encouragement added immense inspiration to the team. Team Manager, Shri N. Mohammed Saleem and Team Coach, Shri Mohammed Sadique is accompanying, the Isles School Football Team.
With spirits soaring high, the Island School Football Team is all set to embark on their journey to New Delhi by flight tomorrow (Sept. 14), determined to showcase their talent and sporting excellence on the higher stage.
