SHEW Organises Capacity Building Programme on Crime Against Women

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 19: The State Hub for Empowerment of Women, Directorate of Social Welfare organized a capacity building program on crime against women Oct. 17 for enhancing the knowledge, sensitivity, and coordination of officials of OSC, WHL, NGOs and Social leaders. The first session was conducted by Smt. Suparna Biswas (Advocate, DLSA) who focused on understanding the different forms of crime against women and legal provisions.

Speaking on the occasion SI Agnes Bartholoma (Women Cell, PS Ograbranj) spoke on “Empowerment begins with awareness and action, every officer trained today becomes a catalyst for change in society.” Experts from the Directorate of health Services, Ms. Rakshanda Dubey (Clinical Psychologist) conducted interactive sessions on developing counseling & communication skills for field workers to efficiently handle the cases.

During the workshop, Smt. Hemlatha (Gender Specialist, SHEW) created awareness about gender sensitization and encouraged the participants to adopt gender equality and overcome gender stereotypes for development of our society.
