Exercise ‘Sagar Kavach’ Aims to Strengthen the Commitment of Ensuring the Safety and Security of A&N Islands

Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 20: The biannual Coastal Security Exercise ‘Sagar Kavach’ (A&N)-02/25 coordinated by Coast Guard Region (A&N) commenced on Nov. 13, 2025 along the coast of Andaman & Nicobar lslands, with the participation of surface and Air assets, from Coastal Security Stakeholders, including IcG, IN, PMF, Forest, Fisheries and other agencies and was terminated at 1800 hrs on Nov. 14, 2025.

The exercise aims to validate the Standard Operating Procedures laid down for Coastal security, enhance inter-agency coordination and assess the overall levels of preparedness against potential threats and contingencies along the coast. Through realistic scenarios and coordinated responses, the participating agencies validated their operational readiness and communication mechanism. The ‘Sagar Kavach’ serves as a vital platform to strengthen the synergy among multiple maritime and Coastal Security agencies for a more robust and resilient Coastal Security Architecture. The exercise strengthens the commitment of all stakeholders towards ensuring the safety and security of Andaman & Nicobar Islands vast coastline and maritime interest.
