
Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 21: The two-day Rajya Stariya Bal Vaigyanik Pradarshani (RSBVP) 2025–26 – GYANODAYA, under the theme ‘STEM for Viksit and Atmanirbhar Bharat,’ got underway today at Government Girls Senior Secondary School. The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, as chief guest inaugurated the exhibition in the presence of Shri Arun Sharma, IAS, Deputy Commissioner (South Andaman) and other officials of Education Department. The event is being organized by the Science Wing of the Directorate of Education, A&N Administration in collaboration with Samagra Shiksha and NCERT, New Delhi.
Soon after the inauguration, the Chief Secretary interacted with students across all Educational Zones and keenly observed their models and listened to their presentations, appreciating the combined efforts of students, teachers, and parents in promoting scientific temperament across the Islands.
In his motivating address, he encouraged students to work hard, remain focused, and embrace curiosity as a tool for shaping innovative solutions for a better tomorrow. Citing Sir Isaac Newton’s famous words, “Standing on the shoulders of giants,” he explained the value of learning from great thinkers and continuously striving for excellence. He also advised students to lead a tension-free, joyful, and purposeful life and instructed organizers to ensure that all students visit every exhibit to foster peer learning and recommended selecting a ‘most popular project’ based on student observations.
In his welcome address, Shri Vikram Singh, Director (Education) while greeting the dignitaries, participants, teachers, and students highlighted the importance of the exhibition in nurturing creativity and scientific curiosity among young learners.
A total of 111 exhibits from 9 educational zones showcased innovations across seven themes—Emerging Technologies, Sustainable Agriculture, Health and Hygiene, Green Energy, Water Conservation, Waste Management, and Recreational Mathematical Modelling. Students including CWSN from remote and far-flung areas presented solutions rooted in local realities and environmental challenges.
Students of GMS Ganesh Nagar, North Andaman, displayed a creative flower pot made from waste jute bags, promoting responsible recycling. A student from Government Middle School, Kakana, presented a hydroponic model, demonstrating sustainable farming practices suitable for the islands. A student from GSSS Kapanga showcased an original Rat and Cheese Mathematical Game, blending fun with logical reasoning. A participant from GSS Mildera exhibited an innovative idea titled “Providing Passive Income in the Nicobar Region through Sustainable Oxygen Harvesting and Jungle Oxy-Candy.” Students from PM SHRI Senior Secondary School, Campbell Bay, presented a research-based project on vanishing habitats of the crab-eating macaque and the rise of human–wildlife conflict, which attracted wide appreciation.
The inaugural session concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Shri Ram Parvesh, Deputy Director of Education (Science). On the second day of the Exhibition, participants will attend a special lecture by Professor Dr. S. V. Sharma from the National Institute of Education on reducing plastic pollution and sustainable environmental practices. Inter-island student participants will also undertake educational exposure visits to National Memorial Cellular Jail, Science Centre, and other significant locations to enrich their experiential learning.
