Forest Sports Contingent from the UT Shine at the 28th All India Forest Sports Meet at Dehradun

Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 21: A felicitation programme was organized today at Van Sadan, Haddo, to honour the Forest Sports Contingent that represented the Union Territory at the 28th All India Forest Sports Meet held in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, from Nov. 12 to 16. The Forest Sports Contingent was lauded for its outstanding performance at the national event, where they secured one Gold Medal and two Silver Medals, marking a proud moment for the Andaman & Nicobar Forest Department.

The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, A&N Islands, Shri Sanjay Kumar Sinha, IFS, presided over the ceremony and congratulated the athletes for bringing laurels to the Islands. He felicitated Shri Emran Baksh, LGC, winner of the Gold Medal in Squash (Men’s Open), and Ms. B. Chandra Kala, LGC, who earned two Silver Medals in Chess (Rapid and Classic). Both athletes were honoured with medals, certificates, and mementoes in recognition of their exceptional performance. In addition, Shri Sanjay Kumar, Forester was presented with a memento for securing the fourth position in Chess (Rapid and Classic), a noteworthy accomplishment in a highly competitive field.
