
Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 28: The State Hub for Empowerment of Women organized an awareness program on ‘Cyber Security’ at Government Middle School, Sippighat today with the objective of educating students on safe digital practices. The program was conducted in collaboration with DCPUD, South Andaman. During the program, Ms. G. Sandhya, Legal-cum-Probation Officer, DCPU South Andaman, held an interactive session and debate among the students. She sensitized them about the misuse of social media platforms and highlighted that the use of such platforms at a minor age can be risky and harmful. Smti. Hemlatha, Gender Specialist (SHEW), spoke about the growing trend of online gaming and made students aware of the associated risks including addiction and interaction with unknown players. Dr. Nitu Sindhu, State Mission Coordinator (SHEW), addressed the gathering on the increasing concerns of cyber-bullying and online morphing, especially during virtual interactions. She outlined real-life risks and guided the students on preventive measures to safeguard themselves in such situations.
A total of 75 students, along with school teachers, participated in the program. The initiative aimed to strengthen students in understanding digital safety and promoting responsible use of technology.
This initiative received appreciation from the Headmistress Smti. Meeta Das, teachers & students. The State Hub for Empowerment of Woman conducted this program under the guidance of Shri. Ravinder Kumar (Director, Social Welfare) and this initiative is a part of the SHEW’s ongoing efforts to promote digital safety, online behavior and responsible technology usage among children and adolescents.
